Bury - Adaptive Fashion

Garment Design 2015

Bury is a prototype for intellectual and adaptive clothing that combines protection with style. It is a vision for how pollution will affect our lives and the ways we will respond. This garment protects the wearer by using reflective fabrics to increase their visibility in dim daylight which results from heavily polluted air. Its unique facial covering allows the wearer to wear a filtration mask without compromising his or her style. More importantly the garment illustrates an environment where we have almost depleted the protection of our atmosphere.

Thanks to all the people have helped me to make this project possilbe. Thanks to Alex Tosti for the amazing fashion photographies . Hand bag pattern generated and printed by Nicole Yi Messier. Make up by Shakti Mb and modeled by Yun Bai.

Our Air

Branding Web and Print Design 2015

As a chinese designer I am proud to showcase this collaboration with Xi’an Famous Foods on their Lunar New Year Festival. This project’s main challenge was to create a concert brand that combines traditional chinese culture with a modern look to speak to young chinese americans in New York. I created a logo mark that mimics the structure of chinese characters with illustrations inspired by papercut folk work from Xi’an.

Our Air

Data Visualization 2014

While living in Beijing I noticed that on hot days the weather seemed to be less polluted. I wondered if this small observation could indicate a bigger pattern. This data visualization will help viewers understand the ebb and flow of air pollution in China. Our temperature data is from Weather Underground and our PM2.5 measurement comes from State Air.

Branding 2011

Lovely is passionate about helping renters find a perfect home without all the hectic processes normally involved. To directly translate their message I started to hand draw the name lovely, connecting all the letters into a smooth and seamless path. I wanted the audience to feel calm and at ease instantly when they see the logo and feel finding a home will be just as calming.

To make Lovely's audience feel the brand is an actually environment in which they can belong, textures of fractions of homes are included as part of the secondary graphics in the branding.

Branding 2012

GRK is a restaurant which was started by two greek men dedicated to bringing authentic and healthy greek food to New York city. They wanted to reintroduce the idea of greek food to the general public. Taking inspiration from their intention, I created a brand inspired by the iconic square spiral shape that appears on old fashioned greek deli cups in New York City. By combining that icon with a modern slab serif typeface, I made the GRK logo simple and straightforward - just like their food.
